State Street: June 4th, 2020

Following the Black Lives Matter demonstrations of the last weekend of May, the City of Madison commissioned artists to paint murals on the plywood sheets boarding up the storefronts along State Street. Even among the still looming risk of COVID-19, artists and activists answered the call in droves. Expressing messages of frustration, anger, hope, pain, love, resiliency and so many more, these murals are a slice of the times and a reflection of the social climate of our community. I felt it was important to document this moment in time and share its ability to start conversations. Sharing this video on our platform is allowing greater engagement in this dialogue and I'd like to thank you for watching.
